I have a 1/2 acre pond with lots of pet ducks and geese that come up the bank of the pond and cause the banks to erode worse in certain areas. Is there anything short growing I can plant, something like grass that won't grow tall and bushy and can be mowed regularly if needed?

I tried researching erosion control plants before and kept coming across plants that would impede the view of the pond. I guess some kind of grass would be best?

I expect there are a variety of plants that would provide low ground cover. Bermuda grass comes to mind. The county should be able to help you. There used to be county extension agents that provided help with such things, but I think they may have been replaced by something else, at least in some States. There are also master gardeners in some areas that provide advice. The slope of the banks would have a bearing on what would be suitable, also soil type, moisture, shade, and other things.

Google Florida ground cover and you will find many web sites with many possibilities. Search through the options and find the ones that best match your wants and needs and circumstances.

The ducks that I've seen around here dig in the dirt at the pond banks and eat the roots of plants. I think that you might have a hard time getting something established unless you put down some sort of fence material on the ground to prevent the ducks from doing a lot of digging.

Like laying down chicken wire and getting the plants to come up through it.
