Hey y'all! My name is Mike and this past January I bought my first house and pond. I have never owned or maintained a pond before so im new to all of this.

Pond history- THe pond was built back in 2000-2001 and is 152Ft long and 57Ft wide(widest point) and 11ft average depth(22ft deepest). Which if i did the math right comes out to 712,969 gallons.

The pond is stocked with blue Gill, Small and large mouth bass, emors(bottom feeders), cat fish and some other rather large fish that i have only seen so a short second but i can tell there big from the shadow.

The pond has an aerator in it, a Kasco surface aerator which is in the middle of the pond.

I added some aqua shade too the pond and that about it so far.

I have had my aerator running 24/7 for the last few weeks but from what im reading that might not be good. I have pics and will post them of the pond later.

I also have a brown film on the shallow end of the pond that im not sure what it is.

Thanks for the help guys!

Welcome to the forum! A number of ponds here have that same film, I think it's from pollen.

Can you elaborate on the emor fish? I've never heard of them.

If you can catch one, take a picture of it (side view) that shows pretty good detail and post it.

Could be amur or grass carp.
