hola all:
Long time, no post, but thought this would be the right audience for this delicious find:
http://www.basspro.com/Clam-Corp-Summit-PopUp-Ice-Fishing-Shelter/product/10210324/135661
i dont know how long till they fix the price, but i found it for 24 bucks. Pretty awesome.

looks like they meant to take 10% off but instead made it 10% of regular price

I think they found the error of their ways. This is what I got when I clicked on the link:

The product does not exist or is not currently in stock.

Thanks for trying.

they skunked me. Apparently they are not obligated to honor publication errors, as is stated in their terms of service. So, they didn't charge me anything, but I had to talk to customer service, where iw as informed that if i wanted to continue with the purchase, i would have to pay the full price of 249.99

lame.

uber-lame.

However, i do happen to be in the market. I'm looking at the clam basecamp, eskimo quickfish 3, clam 2000 and because of the ridiculously awesome price, the killzone 4-man igloo.

I only get to go out maybe 2-3 times per year (I live in the southlands, damnit).

any suggestions? any pros/cons of use in any of them? I'm honestly leaning towards the clam basecamp or clam 2000 suitcase-style. I thinkt he basecamp might be best since we often have more than 2 ppl arrive.

Or, if anyone has a good one for sale, i'm interested.

Hey skinny I know it's not the deal that basspro almost had, but this isn't too bad.

hey thanks, AP. For that price + the 15 in shipping, though, i can get a 6x6 @ cabellas that's 600d fabric made by clam corp.

at least until tomorrow. Hoping to get some insight from you fellas first.

Another good website to go to for feed back would be IceShanty.com. There's even a section for each state including Illinois and a For Sale category.

I'm thinking about selling my two person pop up but it's too heavy to ship.

thanks, Cecil.

I checked out iceshanty.com last night, and finally made my decision. Went with the eskimo quickfish3. It was 139 from mills farm & fleet, and they had a free shipping deal on for cyber monday.

I am officially boycotting BPS at the moment for the wonky way they handled their own error. I know my meager contributions to their annual profits (or the lack thereof) aren't enough to make them change an aggravating policy, but unlike certain folks protesting certain streets that may or may not rhyme with "fall" "call" or "tall," this style of protest actually accomplishes something when enough people do it. hopefully anyone else hit by that disappointment at BPS does the same.

Final question: I read on iceshanty.com that the fabric on these things has a poly coating on the inside that will start to flake and peel after some use. They recommended a coating of a new poly substance, but others on the forum (users as opposed to manufacturers) said the same could simply be accomplished by scotch-guarding the interior every few years. Apparently the spray-on poly stuff that clam and eskimo recommend in this situation has a pretty harsh sounding safety data sheet, and it makes the shanty stink to high heaven for a few years. Anyone had this problem? anyone know a good fix? I know its just 140 bucks, but i'd rather have to replace it in 4 years when i stumble out of it after too many irish coffees than in 2 years when the fabric becomes porous.

I've had my two man clam for a couple of years and had no problem with an odor or peeling.

I bought two 6x6 pop ups made by Clam/Cabelas last year - both were utter disasters. First trip on the ice two poles and a hub broke. Sent in received another. On second visit another hub broke in addition to the zipper jamming. Returned and began researching.

For pop ups it seems the Eskimo 6 man received pretty solid reviews. I bought one this Fall, and we now have ice, so I'll take it out this week and post my feedback. Pop-ups are ideal for my four person family and much cheaper than their sled counterparts, but there may be a reason for this - meaning poor construction.

I've heard nothing but positive feedback on the Otter products, but they are very pricey and heavy. Meant to be pulled by ATV/UTV or Snowmobile I think. Not a good solution for a pond hopper like myself.
