Pond Boss

I have posted about this before and there are many topics about the green pea soup water. I raise trout and have talked to many on the forum about getting rid of some of it. I have zero moss but would like to just see some fish once in a while more clearly. I run fresh well water in and out during the hottest months and it still really never gets really clear. I have done all the water tests and i just have a very fertile pond. I also have a Top Water Kasco splasher as well as a diffuser. I test the D.O. on friday and it was very high at 11.2. Is there a chemical that you would recommend to help clear this up. I have spent $$$ on beneficial bacteria and that didn't seem to help but for a small period of time. The surface temp is 62 degrees today. Pond size it arround 1/2 acre and the deepest part is 7-8 ft. All ideas would be of great help. I also have read all the pond boss magazines and tried to do what i thought was going to help but no avail. I actually can see a tire that i put i the lake that is 30 inches deep but due to the green color of the lake it is hard to really make out what it is unless you didn't know. I guess the fertility of the water is great but would rather have the visual appearance better.

If your alkalinity and hardness is above 30 ppm you may try some liquid copper. I would start out with a small amount since trout are more sensitive to copper than other species. Mist the pond with a sprayer and it should help clear it up.

Greg,

My Enviro Service report is in total alkalinity 213 mg/L and hardness is 344 mg/L as CaCo3. I forgot the the formula to convert it. I remember that it is very hard and the alkalinity is also high. Cecil or someone told me that they were envious of the results. The fertility is great but the astecics are terrible. Where do you get your copper?

Thanks Jeff

I thought they were high out there. MAN I'm jealous also normally 8-12 ppm around here. You can order from folks on this board or we can ship a 2.5 gallon container of K-tea (8% copper) for $80 plus about $12 for shipping. Like I said even with the high alkalinity startout slow with copper in a trout environment.

i have had great success using a copper product called Earthtec. It is a double chelated compound which is great for planktonic and as a preventative. Ditto on the caution around trout. fishmgr@hotmail.com

Greg-My lake is 200 x 100 or just shy of an acre. It is 4ft to 7ft deep. How much do i need to say go 75% of the reccomended rate, i want the green just not so dense. How do you bill for the products. I also was wondering if i can get it out here and save frieght. Tanks to all of you for your comments. I want to keep some algae as Cecil and other comments this also helps my fatheads have some color cover from predators.
