Just wondering. So far I have identified purple fanwort, water primrose, yellow water lily, irises, soft rush, sedge, buttonbush, and willow. There are a couple more I have not identified yet. Button bush and willow I have been clearing with my brush cutter and spray when out of the water because of years of neglect. The others have not been a problem.
I think if you plant and maintain species you want, you will help keep out invasives and species you don't want...
do you have a picture of the buttonbush? sounds nice. sounds like you have a good mix. most aquatic species can become strong growers. i am not experienced with fanwort or water primrose, but if you dont have the south american primrose, you probly ok.

cliffbrook, I don't have a pic of the buttonbush since I have been cutting it down mostly because of years of neglect around the pond by the previous owner.
Buttonbush:

http://aquaplant.tamu.edu/database/submerged_plants/fanwort.htmI do have a little problem with the water primrose, but my big brush cutter makes quick work of it and anything else that gets in the way of its blade including willow, buttonbush, snakes, you name it.
i am all for some mowing, i am trying to start buttonbush and you are trying to destroy it, sounds like there will be plenty left when you are done
yea, checked that picture before posting, looked like 1 pretty thing I dont need a million of
my 10 foot woods rough cutter has locked up transfer case...better be getting that fixed
