I have what I call lake weeds. Good crop this year. So I have been raking out the weeds with my pond rake. I want to get a lot out before I put in chemical. a lot of hauling on a two acre pond. So I am going to use my winch on my four wheeler to pull them out.

I've herd a fence gate works well when it's dragged through the weeds. Maybe weight down one end (top or bottom) of the gate. I've not ever done it, so no expert here.

We used ta haul an old set of bed springs to the deep end of the beach and then ride em in behind the drag truck.

Hey Bob...just noticed your signature. Thats pertains to at least half of my family!!!

Mike, you're fortunate. Reason I chose it was cause it pertains to about 80-85% of my family and to all my friends.

Bob-O, I'm neutered, so does that mean I'm out of the doghouse over Bill D's birthday? Pat's on his own.

I did some experimenting. I found that using my field drag for busting up horse crap works real well on weeds in the pond. It has fingers on it and grabs the weeds and pulls them out by their roods. Huge piles every pass.

John,
How do you get the drag into the deep water, do you just back in as far as tractor allows and pull straight back out?
Posted By: john kelsey Re: Weeds - 09/14/18 12:56 PM
I have a a long 100 foot cable. I tie a light marking string to it and disconnect the drag. Then take the drag to where I want it. Pull the cable over to the drag with the light string. It takes awhile but you get big results. I have a question. How do you post pictures. I can't find the upload button.

pictures would really help as I don't understand how you get the drag in the water and release it, unless this is in the shallows?

If you are using the box that shows just under your last post then you won't see any upload options. The grey buttons under this box say Switch to Full Reply Screen. Click that...

On that screen under the text box is "File Manager' and using that it will give you window to browse your computer and upload pictures as attachments.

The following only applies to adding photos using a PC. I don't k now about Macs or smart phones.

The simplest way to upload photos is "Switch to Full Reply Screen" which is below the Quick Reply text screen that you typically type your response in.

Then, click to "File Manager"...A pop up window will appear.

Then, I use the Browse Button to go out to my computer drive and find my photo. MAKE SURE YOUR PHOTO SIZE IS LESS THAN 2MB.

(I use IRfanView free software to resize photos among other things - This resizing exercise can be done a million different ways and which way is up to you.)

Once you picked your photo you will be directed back to the pop up window and you must click the "Add file" button.

If that is the only photo you wish to post...click "Done adding files".

If you wish to add more...use the "Browse" button again until you have selected all the photos you want to post, then hit the "Done adding files" button.

You will be taken back to your post and the "File Manager" option below the text box should indicate how many "total Files" you will be uploading.

Then, the attached photo will look like this in your post...

I think the above says what it needs too. Other than...all we have to do is click the "Attachments" file (e.g. "D bases.jpg") and the photo appears. (Hit the back arrow to return to the post.)

Now, if you want to get fancy (I learned this from RC51)and you want your photo to appear in the actual post as a picture instead of a clickable file...

The following works with Windows Explorer and is similar BUT a bit different in Chrome (I can't remember how exactly). If you are an apple user- you're on your own! (I think you have to stand on your head) Anyhow...

Right click the filename "Crawdads.jpg" in the post and choose "Open in new tab" then click the new tab that just opened. You will see your photo.

Right click in the photo and choose "Properties". A pop up window will appear and you will want to copy the "Address (URL)" information the will look something like this...

http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=13752&filename=Crawdads.jpg

Now, hit the pop up cancel button go back to your post and hit the edit button bellow the post and find the area that you wish to add your photo and type the following...

Then, immediately paste the URL address info you copied and follow it immediately by typing...

[/img]

The text will look something like this (I have replaced the first and last Bracket [] with pound signs #, I had to do this to trick the system to actual display the rest of the string...

#img]http://forums.pondboss.comBLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.jpg[/img#

And actual look like this once you submit your edit and it turns back into you actual post...

This is the best I can do, I hope it suffices. These methods are really pretty easy once you've done it a few times and I don't believe PB has these instructions available. The only instructions I have found are for posting photos to the gallery and that is rarely used.

There are other ways of posting pics, but they rely on 3rd party sites and those photos can be lost if the 3rd party decides to change it's rules like potatobucket did. And, some corporate-big-brother-firewall kinda stuff can make it impossible to see 3rd party linked photos if the 3rd party site is on the restricted list.
