Hi PB, I am a long time reader and first time poster here to PB and want to say thanks in advance. I have this plant growing around my pond on most of the edges. I like the cover that it gives but I just want to know what to call it. The stalks or roots grow from the edge of the water and out into the water and the leave portion floats and grows above the water line. I tried to add the second photo to the file manager and it would not fit.
Can anyone identify this for me? thanks

Welcome RBE, It resembles a type of smartweed, but I can't be for sure. Does it flower? If so, a pic of those would help. And, my smartweed has "knees" where the leaves attach to the stem. Your pics show what might be knees, but they are not as prominent as the knees on my Missouri smartweed plants.
It also resembles Water Willow come to think of it.
