This has started showing up around the bank of my pond. What is it? And do I need to get rid of it

In smaller amounts 5% of the pond it is good habitat and a colonization site for invertebrates. It is a filamentous green type(Chlorophyta) algae and it looks to be bright green Spirogyra, esp if it is slippery to the touch. Do you have access to tilapia? They will eat lots of it and then when the tilapia are larger 7"-10" you can eat the tilapia. Win - Win.
