So I pieced together a aeration kit with a hiblow pump and some weighted line and a diffuser. Started out running it for a bit in the evenings building up to running it 24/7. Since running it 24/7 the bite has been awful went last night and caught one bass. Generally we catch a hand full a piece including the bigger BGs and the occasional crappie. Even feeding has produced a low number to almost zero fish. And I haven't seen the pair of grass carp in a few days. I haven't seen any dead fish. So should I just go back to running during the evenings or should I just wait it out?
I would stop running it during the day. The fish are telling you something is wrong and the most obvious answer is the aeration. If it is hot where you are, that would explain the negative response to aeration.

I'm not sure this is the right answer. Can we get an expert opinion?

Its actually been pretty cool last week or so. mid to high 70s dropping the 50-60s in the nights and mornings.
Then I might be wrong. I'm no expert so something else must be wrong.
Several factors can be going on to reduce catching fish. My initial guess is the aerator running is moving deeper water to the surface. In this new water condition, the fish likely discovered the upwelling water contains lots of planktonic food items. Small fish feed in the newly created boil and larger fish follow to 'work' the new buffet. After several days or weeks the buffet is becomes sparse and fish seek other feeding areas. Another possibility turn off the aerator and run it in the morning and fish when the aerator is not running.

Try fishing in the current of the boil and see if anything bites. Be careful to not fish often or you will relatively quickly produce some hook smart fish that become more and more difficult to catch over then next several years. Do some reading about hook shy fish or hook smart fish.

Wife and I would go out to our aeration boil with a boat and watch from a few feet away. At certain times there looks like a conveyor belt of 1-3" BG that seem to ride the current to the top, disperse outward, and I presume by the numbers seen do it all over again.

In the evening we will sometimes see a LMB strike repeatedly at the surface around this aeration boil, presumably working on these small BG.
