I have a 1 1/4 acre pond shaped like a turkey roasting pan. Does the aeration head need to be in the middle ? The bottom of my pond is completly flat if it matters. Also is their one type of compressor that will generaly last the longest?

TG4,

Good questions. Other information would be required to make sure the right number and type of diffusers are used on your pond.

What is the depth? How far is your power source from the pond? Any unusual items like an island in the middle? Pasture land washing into the pond?

All of this will aid in making suggestions for you to make an informed choice.

Compressors, the newest and greatest is the WOBL piston compressors. They are not effected by deep depths are long runs of tubing and they generally have a 3-year life before a maintenance kit is required.

Pond is 6' deep now, will be 13' if it ever rains much. I am getting elec next week , will be about 75' from pond berm. No islands. There is a 3' high divider in about the middle used durring construction, so it is under about 3' of water now.

Hi TG4 -
Placement is important - normally you would want to locate a diffuser in the deepest most central location. In your case it sounds as if you may need a diffuser on either side of the divider. Because your pond is currently only 6 feet deep, there isn't as much of a water column for the bubbles to rise and expand as there will be if/when your pond fills to 13'.
