Just read the article in Pond Boss Magazine July/August 2018 called...Lessons Learned From Fish Kill. IT DESCRIBES MY POND ALMOST EXACTLY!!! No, I have no fish kill now but apparently am a perfect candidate to have a DO crash and I want to try to help prevent it now. My pond is 2 acres and I have bottom aeriation with 3 diffusers in deep end which is only about 10-11 ft deep most of time. I run it 24 hours a day. I think I need to add a surface volcano fountain but don't know what size or brand. My shallow end is only 4-5 foot average and less in some areas. At what depth should I install a fountain? Also, I would like to have one with colored lights.Water temps are in the 90's now. I feed my fish everyday and pond is probably waaaay overstocked especially with cnbg per acre!! Clarity is always muddy with only about 12 inch visibility on sechi dish. What do I need!!
A Kasco surface aerator would work well or like the article said you could use a de-icer mounted on a frame.

This is what I am going to set up in the next few weeks, I will set it in 4ft of water with the diffusers 30" off the bottom. I am going to try out an Ecoplus 7 aerator to see what kind of boil I get off of it.

Todd Overton suggested to me last year that I use a paddlewheel (over a volcano) for surface agitation and suggested I get one. Problem is no power at the pond. And the solar systems I have found look Mickey Mouse or a waste of money in a 3 acre pond. In researching recently, I think I read where Kasco was coming out with a solar surface aerator soon but How soon and what it will actually do, I have no idea at this time.

Shorty, please let us know on how the system your are setting up works. Or how it effects the DO, if you can. The system you pictured works on Air and would cost a lot less since I already have air at the pond. Thanks!
