I was going through the older Forum list when I came across the story of Ray Scotts Lake Life Pump. And why I have never herd of it prior to now, lack of research I am guessing on my part. So, after reading some of the information I found here, I then went to Kasco Marine, who worked with Mr. Scott to develop and to market it. And I saw the video with Ray Scott and Bob Lusk discussing and endorsing the pumping system. Looking at the dates of this topic, I saw here, where it was discussed in 2008. Now, some 7 or 8 years later, I am curious about what else has been learned from this Lake Life Pump? This product looks like it would cut my cost in half when comparing it to diffuser type of aeration. I was quoted $9,000 but here it is advertised for almost half the price and according to the video will work in my 3.5 acre pond with depths of 10 to 12 feet in our wetter months and 8 to 10 foot depths in our hotter months here in E Texas. I was hoping someone here has some experience with this product. Mr. Lusk voiced his experience on the video and I am sure he told it like it is but was wondering who else might have tried this product? Anyone?

Thanks for bringing this up Tracy. I had never heard of these. I see Kasco does have them on their website. I wonder why they have not become more popular?

Tracy, I'm not sure what savings you spoke of. No matter how it's sliced, there is no way an electric water pump can move water for less money than an air pump will. Electric costs to properly aerate 3.5 acres with bottom diffusers would cost about 1/4 in electric over a 1HP motor. plus initial equipment would be about half as expensive, or less.

Rainmain, Jus Looken :), I have been quoted $9,000.00 for the aeration equipment and for setting up a system for my 3.52 acre pond. Or($20,000.00 for solar system). That does not included the price of the tubing or the time and labor to run and bury 3/4" or 1" tubing approximately 1,000 to 1500' through the woods and to the pond. I know nothing of Ray Scotts "Lake Life Pump", but pricing is almost 1/2 the price and it seams to work on small lakes, 20 acres to 3 acre ponds. Like stated, Mr. Bob Lusk has recommended the system on a video. I am sure you are correct about the cost to run the 1hp motor will cost more that a 1/4 hp motor, but I am not sure if a 1/4hp will run 6 diffusers through manifolds, and lots of separate tubing all at the same time. I would have to go back a see the equipment quote I received. But the Lake Life Pump system looks much easier to set up, easier to run and easier to service. I was hoping others here were familiar with the system. Thanks for your response, it's always appreciated.

Tracy, have you talked to Kasco yet? I be having a senior moment, but I swear they discontinued manufacturing the lake pump in 2014.

Al, u may be correct about discontinuing the pump,, but they still have it on their website. I would like to see it's performance history. Sometimes things are taken off the market due to being less profitable to the company. It was sure talked up in 2008.

25 acre lake aeration with Ray Scotts lake Life Pump. In my continued reading here on the forum and going back to Sept. 18th 2002. I found where Gregg Grimes reported his findings on the DO in Mr. Scotts lake. This reporting was before the Lake Life Pump was shown to the public. After seeing the pump and being skeptical, he reported, he checked the DO and the reading's were reported at 14.3 mg/l at the surface and 6.2 mg/l near the bottom @ 22 feet. As per his report, He was impressed with the DO and the LMB in the lake. We are talking a 1 hp surface pump here that aerates a 25 acre lake. I am hoping someone here knows more about this system some 13 yrs later. I am hoping someone with Kasco might jump in here for information about the pump today. I presently run a water well some months of the yr, with a power line and meter dedicated to the well. The cost to run the 5 hp pump for a month is approximately $300.00 per month. So maybe a 1 hp pump would run 1/5th of that cost. Any takers here on updated information on the Lake Life Pump ?

I have seen 1hp brush-less 36 volt DC water pumps. They can be run solar or ac-dc PSU. They are the most efficient low maintenance pump you will ever find. They are just starting to get them into pool pumps with pulse width modulated speed controllers. Bunch of fancy words for DC variable drive or dimming function.

Basically 1hp will give you about 200 feet of head and 23 gallons per minute. Less parts to wear and more torque or lifting power with brushless.
