Well I guess I should have asked this before I ordered some but better late than never. Has anyone tried using the AM2000 if so how was it? Did you fish like it as much as the AM600? it's supposed to be just a bit bigger than the AM600.

Any thoughts on it?

Thanks,
RC

AM600 is for carnivores. AM2000 is for omnivores (i.e. catfish and Tilapia)

What fish are you planning on feeding?

Just a quick hijack. I noticed on the back of latest issue that AM has new look. I need to up my fish food size. I believe they are on 400 now. I'm thinking the 600 is next? My fish species are in my signature and I'm going for max growth. Thanks.

Well that sucks it does NOT say that on the AM chart that I looked at!! I was planning on feeding it to my HSB and BG?? But maybe not now?? Do you think they will still eat it if I mix it with AM600?

Yep, it's in a new bag....even has a bubble on the front that touts having fishmeal listed as the FIRST ingredient, relevant to a discussion on here from a few months back.

Got Bob's photo on the bag also.......

By the way....is everybody else signed up for Purina's rewards program? I assumed everyone was, but thought I would mention it. Not a huge savings, but it gives me $5.00 off a bag every quarter.

Ok cool that's better than wasting an entire 50 lbs bag of food at least! Thanks BK,

HBG are around 5 to six inches now and yellow perch were around 6 to 10 when released.

Alright most HBG I caught were 6 inch with one 7 and quarter being exception. You think I can skip to 600? Caught one 6 1/2" HSB and couldn't catch a YP.

I've never switched to 600....Started with 500 years ago and simply stayed with it. HBG, BG, LMB, CC and HSB all seem to grow just fine on it, and I like the fact that my smaller BG can handle it. Perhaps they expend a little more energy, swimming around plucking off the 500 vs. the larger 600, but I think getting the smaller fish on feed sooner is an acceptable tradeoff. And I don't have to carry two sizes of feed.

Yes I think you could. What I have seen is my smaller BG 2 to 4 inch still grab the pellet and take off with it. Then they chew pieces of it off. Just think too when you feed there are a lot of smaller food particals and small bits floating around that they will grab too.

I know it's a bit of a pain, but I do like Ewest does and mix my food. I use 500 and 600 then all have a nice chance at eating.

This next time in about 2 weeks I will be mixing 600 and 2000 together. The 2000 is just an experiment and I doubt I will get anymore but going to try it out.

I find the mixing of 500 and 600 is good though for all involved. At least in my pond it is.

When I added LMB I needed to order some more food...Since they were pellet trained I thought why not get some 600...

I mixed a bag of 500 and 600 in a 35 gallon rubber made tub and just throw it all out together...Needless to say, very few pieces ever float to the shore if any...
