I am looking for suggestions or recommendations for a Central Ohio excavation company who is willing to dig a 1/4 acre pond. I am not having any luck, finding a contractor with pond construction experience. Almost every excavation company I have contacted, doesn't call me back.

....I used the search function and didn't have any luck.

The excavating business seems to be really really busy lately. I haven't been able to get the excavator I used for my ponds to take any kind of job for 3-4 years. The excavator I hired instead to do culverts, I wouldn't recommend for a pond.

Thank you for the response. I am hoping to locate someone, who knows pond construction and isn't just a generalist as I am trying to avoid headache and future issues.

I found this company, but he was unwilling to drive to Columbus for a small pond. His website is an excellent resource for information.

The NRCS in my area keeps a list of dozer operators. However, that doesn't mean that they know anything about building holes for fish.

I built my last pond myself after my experience with our second pond. The knowledgeable fellow who built my first pond retired. I do not enjoy running the machines, but a moderate drought just broke, and the new 1/2 acre pond was just 4 inches low. It has a very small watershed, so I wanted it tight. It worked out good and I now wish that I had capped the bottom drain rather than installing a knife valve. I just wanted a drain to do maintenance in case it leaked. Still need to boat out and disconnect the floats from the cable on the valve and drop the cable to the bottom.

In many Ahia counties, that would be the Soil and Water Extension Office. Ours has such a list, but (officially, at least) won't endorse anyone.

Hey Greystone - if you don't have a copy of Mike Otto's "Perfect Pond - Want One?" buy it. Best $27 you can spend to learn what to do and what not to do (and how to fix it if somebody did that anyway) wrt pond construction.
