As a starter since you're near Magnolia I would at least contact these folks for advice since they are in Magnolia, Texas.

I 2nd Mr. Otto (Otto's dirt service). He built me a lined 1 acre pond last summer and I was extremely happy with the results. He's also a great guy to chat with.
