Have you tried getting a list of fish suppliers from your Texas Fish and Game department to find a supplier close to you? You might even find the list on their website.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

The North Texas Co Op's should have them very soon. They have stores in Greenville, and Sulphur Springs. They are supplied by Boatcycle.

The price for pound is a little higher than Overton's, but gas prices may make a closer trip viable for only 5 pounds.

We're heading down to Overton's in about an hour for ours. Bluebonnets are blooming, so it's a nice drive.

The North Texas CoOp in Canton has Tilapia already,
but Canton Trade Days this weekend make Canton kind of crazy.

NOTE: Sorry I thought they actually had them,
but the North East Texas Farmers Coop in Canton is
taking orders for Tilapia that will arrive in a couple of weeks.

philveno, I'll give the fisheries guys a pass on the shed hours. I have, and do deal with Todd at Overton's and Bob at Tyler Fish Farm. They're both outstanding to deal with, but I do work around their schedules.

I picked up my Tilapia yesterday at Overton's, and they never quit running. They were very busy, but never rushed any customer no matter how small the order. It seems like they walk a very tight line between producing quality fish, and selling them. The more time I spend around fish sheds, the less appealing this "dream job" seems to me.

Overton's certainly doesn't need me to defend their hours, but I dropped approximately 1,500 Tilapia in my lake after a long rough ride from Buffalo, and I didn't even have 1 floater. That made a very long day completely worthwhile.

Zep is correct about both statements. The CoOp has Tilapia, and Canton is in the middle of a very busy Spring Weekend.

Good luck getting your Tilapia, they're well worth it.

Overton doesn't need any defense from me but the fish business is like wheat farming - when the crop is ready for harvest, it's 24/7.
If you want to chat with Todd - wait unil the crop is delivered to the mill.

One piece of good news is that Todd's wife Kathy is returning to the office after wife and mother duties, and will run the office.
Kathy has a MS in entomology from TAMU, and is one smart Lady.

Todd says it's dificult to seine a pond with a telephone in you hand.
Make the trip - it's an adventure - and the bluebonnets are in full bloom.... grin

Well said George and all, well said.

It was my first trip to Todd's and I enjoyed the trip and the fish. Todd and his crew did a great job packing the fish for transport. George and I did not see any floaters in either of our ponds as well and we added fish to three ponds and the trip from package to pond for the fish was over 6 hours.

The fish I bought from Todd were top notch and the costumer service was as well. I would go out of my way to do business with him in the future.

Yeah..i keep hearing that..unfortunately I can't make a 2:30 hour trip to be turned away empty handed.. I have to set it up by phone. and come at a scheduled time (as there website suggests).. I'm sure I will get down there at some point and am not bashing them.. I've heard good things about them.. I'm just frustrated as I now will have to purchase from the dunns truck in azle (which I dont mind either except it's way later in the season than I was hoping and they dont have tilapia. Any ways..just wanted alternatives on tilapia.. I will be headed that way in may but would like to get then before then..

Boatcycle in Henderson TX sells Mozambique Tilapia (5lb Min) at their store 8-5 M-F. I bought 55lbs last weekend and they raise them there so they should have plenty but I would call ahead just to be sure. I believe they are also open from 9-12 or 1 on Saturdays.
