Pond Boss Forums MANAGING AN EXISTING POND Evaluating and adjusting fish populations is this right

Ok if I did my math right our pond which is a 1.5 acer pond. I caculated that I would need: BG 750 1-2in, CC 150 2-4in, LMB 150 2-3in, and 75 LMB 3-4in one year later. Now I have already stock the pond but it was a bad attempted and i did not know wat i was doing. Total there is only 100 fish in the pond. Now if my math is right how is this going to effect this current fish in the pond? Currently there is LMB,BG,HBG, and CC in the pond.

What are the size of the fish that are currently in the pond?

If the current fish have been there a few years your new stockers would be a quick meal for the fish that are already there.

Adding the new stockers won't be a problem but make sure they are big enough to not be eaten by the fish already in the pond.

that my trouble chris i cant remember the size but its only been a year since i have stocked the pond.

What fish did you stock before? IIRC, the recommendation is 1,000 BG/acre, so you're only stocking 50% of the BG needed. I'd add some RES to the mix, about 25% of the BG.

Did you stock any FHM or GSH before?

The only fish that are in the pond are BG, HBG,LMB, and CC. The pond was built about 2 years ago for a creek project with our local NRD.

Heed what Chris said about fish sizes. I'd want to stock fish that were no smaller than 1/2 the size of the current LMB that are in the pond, or prepare to lose a bunch to predation. How much? That's hard to tell, the new ones are the young and dumb ones, not accustomed to being on the dinner menu.
