A friend needed to clean out a brood pond, and has put about twenty-five HSB in his hauling tank for me. He lives on the other side of the state, so we are meeting about half way between. He says they are all about 2 lbs.
I had to take the tractor down to the ponds to break some ice with the front end loader so I can put them in.
About 10 will go in my 1/3 acre HBG/CC pond and the other 15 will go in my 3/4 acre BG/RES/LMB pond.
I'm out the door.

I didn't see your note until now.
But, the fish are happy in their new homes. Some were as big as 4 lbs. Absolutely beautiful.
As for ice, just make sure their isn't any on the roads in Texas during Pond Boss VI.

I am thinking a ligthly breaded fried HSB sandwich with homemade tartar sauce, a piece of thinly sliced onion, some iceberg lettuce, a nice slice of Pepper Jack on a toasted bun. Side of cole slaw please!
Merry Christmas everybody!

Geeze. These are my pets you are thinking about eating! Oh well. I guess I'll probably start to canibalize them one day.

(see white car in picture i took with my cell phone)

Ken, at some point eating our own fish is about like eating the family dog.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Nah. They don't come when called, they aren't named, and they won't retrieve birds that are shot. (at least not the ones in my pond!)

Here fishy, fishy, fishy. Come. Hope they come when I call them at my place Actually they do. Not, necessarily when called. But they certainly know when it is feeding time. The que up at the feeders. And one of my fish is actually named. I have a huge bright orange koi with black tiger-like stripes. Years ago we named him Koi George. And I had a silly LMB that lived under the dock for at least five years. He'd get caught nearly every time someone was fishing from the dock. We named him Dailey. His mouth would end up with hook wounds that made me hurt to just look at him. I guess he must have died last winter. We did not see him this season. Anyway, yeah, the HSB will probably start to get named Dinner next season. Merry Christmas everybody.
