We will be moving to Indiana in the next year or year and a half. Want to learn all I can so we can have a "GREAT" pond. A pond will be one of the first additions to our new property. Really looking forward to having a nice pond with good fishing. Love the internet, who would have thought a Forum about Fish Ponds!!! Just what I was looking for. Two thumbs up from me.

Welcome. What part of the Hoosier state are you moving to?
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

Welcome and it is nice that we will have another Hoosier on here in the near future. It is good that you are planning so far in advance. Can never do enough research and don't want to re-do anything that can be avoided. Good luck and don't be shy about asking lots of ?s. Several folks on here are rather well informed.

We are thinking about the Angola area or there about's. We are looking at properties now that are for sale, getting an idea what's available. Both my wife and I think the pond is a main focal point for us. We would like to have a large pond a couple acres anyway, or bigger. We are excited about the move and warmer weather. I am a nut about pre-planning, I think I have seen every YouTube video on pond building. The one thing I don't know about but will find out is the permits required for building a pond, and who determines if your property has wetlands on it? Can you alter and existing pond?
North.

In my area, having over 20 acres zoned agricultural can be helpful if the pond can be built for livestock watering, irrigation, etc. Otherwise, it can come down to local government and the particular person overseeing such things. Some work with you, and others are on a power trip. Be careful which county you buy in. I wish that I was a mile west of my current location in the next county!
