My friend lives on a 1.5 acre pond. The pond had LMB and Bluegill. One day when he was on vacation the airatiors went out. When they returned home all the bass were dead. The bluegill population then went wild. They restocked the bass, but there were just to many bluegill, so they took out mostly all of them. Then green sunfish kind of came out of nowhere, and their population went crazy. Their were to many for the bass to take out, so they were taken out too. Now the bass don't have much to eat. I was just wondering if Yellow Perch would be a good fish to stock for the bass to eat, or should they go with bluegills again?

Welcome to the forum!

First a couple of questions:

How did they take out the Bluegills (BG) and Green Sunfish (GSF)?

How deep is the pond and when did the Largemouth Bass (LMB) die? What time of year? How many, how long ago, and what size LMB did they stock?

Here's what I got from my friend, I hope it helps. I guess I wasn't completely right on the history, but here it is

First of all there's no reason to believe the bass have nothing to eat right now. We just aren't a fan of how the sunfish take over. Well a company came with large tube nets both times to trap the fish. The first time upwards of 15,000 starving bluegill were taken out, shocking the fishery people, and a few years later a couple thousand green sunfish were removed. These were all transfered to ponds that needed them. The pond is about 8-9 feet deep. The bass died in August 2007. About 100 6 inch LMB were stocked in 2009 I believe, and now they are twice that size.
