pond stocked on friday and today I have about 250 dead bream around the edges of the pond. put 4000 in the pond. there where 2 this afternoon that where swimming upside down about to die. I only saw 2 bream other than the 2 dying ones around the whole pond that looked to be ok/ thought i would see more than that. is this normal? we have been having 30 degree temps at night and 60 in the day. We have been having those temps for about a week now.

What was the size of your stockers, and were they acclimated properly? And when you say Friday, do you mean 10/21/11?
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer.

On the other hand, do you mix the water column with a diffuser(s) during the summer? If not your pond may be turning over due to the sudden drop in temps. How old is the pond? Is it very fertile?

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

While the % may be acceptable, I've not seen those kinds of numbers and would be concerned. You're not seeing ll of the morts.
It could have been unhealthy or roughly handled fish and the others might be OK. However, I would have the water quality checked.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
