Well,
Ice is long gone off the pond here in Central Ohio. My mother in law went out today and walked around it and gave me the update. I'm stuck inside with a broken knee for the next two weeks.
It appears that I lost the following this winter due to the ice cover I am assuming:
7 - bluegill/hybrid bluegill 1 - largemouth bass
I stocked 20 bass and 170 of the bluegill/hybrid in the fall. I am planning to get my windmill this spring and install it, I just didn't have time this fall to get it in. Anyone think this is any reason to panic with this number of fish loss? I thought I might have some, and I guess not losing them all is a good thing.
The real question is, I am thinking about adding some Yellow Perch to my pond this spring and I wanted to gather some thoughts on this addition. The pond is 1/3 acre and 11 feet deep with structure in the bottom (tiles, crates, milk crates, block, rock, etc...).
Anyways, with the following fish stocked would I be screwing up my pond by introducing Yellow Perch into the mix for fishing in the long run? My initial stocking was back on 9/12/09 with the following:
20 Largemouth Bass 150 Hybrid Bluegill 20 Bluegill
I am planning to add some tadpoles, and of course more fatheads this spring once I can get them. Does anyone see anything wrong with adding a couple more of the above fish to replenish what was lost, or will the natural reproduction of the fish take care of what was lost?
Thanks,
I subscribe!
1/3 Acre pond - Central, OH Deepest point 11 ft. Stocked with: Hybrid Bluegill, Bluegill, Yellow Perch, Largemouth Bass, White Amur.

I would think the natural reproduction will make up for your loss, Yp can be grown well in a pond if pellet trained and plenty of forage fish.. you would also have to harvest some, although with the mix you already have in their I do not think you would have a lot of jumbos, as the bass will eat some perch and a ton of the perches food, BG will also take care of yp food as well..
But I claim to be no expert, I am sure the others will chime in.. Good Luck..
