asking for a friend.... pike got in probably through an overflowing drainage ditch that's now fixed and draining properly but he wants to stock it and is hesitant cause of the pike. what's the best approach here? kill and start over? he does not seem to think there much else in there. he's cought 2 so far around 15". pike that is.... thanks. matt.
ps its about a 3/4acre pond 8-10ft deep.
MY POND: 50'X100' (1/8 ACRE) dug in 2006. get's deep quick with a trench dug in the middle that reaches 17' deep. i have aeration. i stock bluegill, bass, trout, and perch and couple crappie.

Are you sure they are pike and not chain pickerel?

A seine big enough to seine the pond if you can get a hold of one. Fishing should be more effective than you think especially if their are no other fish in there to eat. Pike tend to be pretty agressive.
Since it's private water perhaps a trot line baited with minnows?
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Pike were probably not the only immigrants from the ditch. There are likely others. Pike could be eating the smaller immigrants. I would explore costs and feasability of a renovation. Presence of 1-2 15" pike can be a problem for success of new stockings.
