When we bought our place 15 years ago, we' never imagined we'd end up where we are today. I'm sure just like many of you, what started out as a dream turned into a never ending project that just consumes you and you just can't stop. I'm exhausted just thinking about everything we've done.

The start.

About 15 years ago we found a great heavily wooded property that we thought would make a great homestead. 180 acres, heavily wooded with springs, creeks and differing topography and my a couple of natural gas wells that would give free gas to any structures we built along with enough royalties to pay for the property taxes.

Of course, our dreams were a little bigger than our common sense.

What a beautiful place and setting you have.

Certainly a lot of TLC went into that kind of transformation.

I can certainly empathize on the "never ending" part.

I suppose like in life in general...the "to do" list never ends with our properties.

I told my wife yesterday...."it feels like we are under constant attack out here...lol"....between flocks of water turkey eating the fish, otters eating the fish, beavers chewing down the trees, hogs tearing up stuff, carpenter ants, FA/vegetation filling up our ponds, storms/trees, flaky rural contractors, etc. But I guess it's about the journey and the joy overrides the downsides....I still really enjoy it.

Fishing has never been about the fish....

I love the rock work around the pool. Very nice and relaxing looking place you have. A LITTLE sweat equity never hurt nobody. Labor of love.

Nice job. And just think, there are some out there that want to take away those royalties and your right to have a pond also.. opps I might get into trouble for that one.

I don't know about some of you but I don't think most of us want the project to end. I'm an outside person. Anything to get me outta the house im game for. I still go outside and hide n go seek with the kids. I love how you took before picture. I wish I did before we bought our place. Its nice to go back and see all the hard work that has been done.

Thank you Zep.

It is a never ending journey and you're right it's an enjoyable one.

Just glad we did the bulk of it when we were younger and still had that boundless energy.

Oh I completely agree.

We've done more work outside on the land than we have on our home and I love that part. Planting trees, putting in trails, putting in apple orchards,...I could do that stuff forever.

Here is one of our orchards. 83 apple trees with 8 different varieties that will be ready from Sept to Nov. Not sure how many trees we've planted but it's many, many thousands.

A few more pictures.

Dock

Had a place from Ohio who hand makes these on your property. They fabricate all their metal.
