I have a 5ac mildly wooded section of land I'm ready to convert into a few forage ponds. Most trees are less than 8" with about 80 that are big enough I can't get my arms around. Looking at options. I have a local guy who does brush clearing/tree grinding that's coming this weekend to look and give me estimates. I worry about the grinding aspects of it not getting rid of the root system also leaving 8" thick wood chips everywhere. My other option could be calling a timber guy out to see if I have a lumber value and put that cost for clearing land. Looking for advice. Thanks

Snake good luck getting someone to timber a small area. When I put in my 5 acre pond they wanted to do the whole thing- 65 acres plus it takes a dozer more time to push up a stump than a tree( I was told)

Yes, Pat I really don't want the whole property cleared at this point. I have some nosey neighbors and like my tree buffer right now. I have no experience on large construction equipment, but could rent a excavator for hefty fee and push down my large trees and sell as firewood. Burn the root ball. That's extremely time involved though.

Unless they are saw log walnut or like wood doubt it would be worth a loggers time for such a small amount, plus it would be harder to clear out stumps.
1.8 acre pond with CNBG, RES, HSB, and LMB Trophy Hunter feeder.
