Just wondering what is main reason for some bass having a very dark blotched stripe pattern and others having no stripe or some like the picture below have blotches appearing further up on to the back. Is this something random or a certain feature passed to offspring. Really enjoy the below photo quite unique looking

Hey Zep I can't take credit for that fish. I WISH it was mine! It and about 4 others like it were shocked up in a fishery management survey last week.
