It looks like I had a late hatch come off with the warmer temps here this year. . I was pulling cedar trees from around and out of the small pond to to expose forage and take for cover to the 15 acre one. I pulled a big ceder tree out and about 50 little flapping bodies around 1" drug out the ground.

Excuse the pic for not being so clear and the fish for being in rough shape. After about 5 hrs of riding the tractor the fish had lost some of its makeup.

I'll vote for a lepomis of some kind....but my eyes must not be as good as Shorty's.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Baby BG which is known to spawn here into Sept. on normal years. He does not look nothing like he did when I seen them come out of the water after his 5hr tractor ride.

We get a few late spawn BG here too. This is picture from dad's old pond that I took at ice out one year.

Shorty that little fellow makes some good crappie bait around here. We are able to feed year round and I feed 36% to 38% crush for the little ones & minnows.

I try not to feed my babies id rather the food go to the big boys and the babies be ate by predators so i feed big pellets., Whats your plan with feeding small ones just curious? feeding small ones so when they get ate theyre more nutritious?

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

As Bob Lusk has stated before the #1 thing for growing high quality fish is habitat. I also manage my natural habitat to try and maintain the best enviroment for quality growth. Just like you and others I still feed the big boy feed for the big boys. I also feed the little stuff that people often do not think about a quality feed. I believe if you feed the little stuff you will get your optimum natural forage (that feed on the even smaller food chain) & help balance the habitat at its even lower levels. What alot of you are doing also works well (just look at Georges BG).

Tums,
I hope you are correct as I've been feeding a combination of am400 and am500 over a downed tree near the shore when the little ones hide.
