I am getting ready to re-do my overflow pipe. It is currently an 18" rusted and damaged metal pipe. I plan on using 24" Corrugated pipes with a 90degree elbow.

Link below is for the 90 degree and the coupler.

https://www.menards.com/main/plumbing/ro...e_facet=24+inch

The question may be a stupid one. But is that coupler strong enough to keep water from leaking into the piping? I dont want the pond to have a constant leak, obviously.

Second question. If I used the 'belled' end pipes, does that create a water tight seal?

Thanks for ya'lls help

I have not used the belled end pipe that you show. I have used single walled pipe with a 90° coupling that was zip tied together. I liberally coated the whole inside of the fitting with roofing mastic before attaching it to the two pieces of pipe and burying it 4' under ground. I have not noticed it leak but can't tell for sure because the way the water level is inside and outside of my pond.

I have no experience with this type of piping, but from your link the specifications say the piping may be used for potable water and compressed gasses, as well as culvert piping, so it should certainly be water tight.

The installation instructions (pdf) says the couplings can be installed with or without a gasket. I'll assume the gasket is required for a watertight connection.

If you are planning on using the 90 degree fitting in a unearthed portion of the piping, such as turned upwards as a water intake on the pond side, I'd suggest the addition of some external bracing to counteract the weight and the force of the water upon the couplings.
