OP Shorty Lunker Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 4,596 Likes: 36 Raymond, NE	Thanks! I was trying to catch RES this morning on a mirco jig, I hooked a small 3-4" golden shiner when this SMB took the shiner as I was reeling it in. It was very fun on the ultra light with 6 lb. test.

At 20.4" it should weigh 5.0lbs. Keep them well fed for the next weight plateau. RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these. I think that's about all I should put in my little pond. Otter attack in 2023

Do your SMB have a somewhat musky odor? Mine do. I've caught several now (20+) and it seems like there is a smell with them. I was wondering if it was my water, fish food, me, or what, but I'm not smelling it with the HBG or the YP. Anyone else notice it? FYI, the SMB I've caught in my pond are the only SMB I've ever caught.. 9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep. RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these. I think that's about all I should put in my little pond. I do, absolutely, get a whiff of a musky, fishy smell when I'm feeding and the first channel cat shows up. Happens every time without fail. I catch the smell for about 5 seconds, and voila, they are there.
