Sept 15, 2015California Angler Catches Giant 16-Pound Bass Ian Cornelius of Castro Valley, Calif. He caught a 16.6-pound bass from small Lake Chabot in Castro Valley. The photos below really show off the size of that bass. It's rumored that Cornelius caught the bass fishing a large swim-bait on the small 315-acre lake, just 45 minutes from San Francisco. He came up just short of the lake record which was 17 pounds. But it's the largest caught from the lake in more than a decade. Want to hear the crazy thing? He caught a 14-plus-pounder in February. It's just simply amazing that a young angler has caught two bass weighing more than 14 pounds in one year. He has definitely put in his time and been rewarded for it. Seems like all the casting has stretched his arms. All the retrieving has built up his muscle mass to enable him to hold 16+lbs 3' out. All jokin aside, awesome fish and yes, he has earned a big ol smile.

Was'nt gonna mention names cause some folks think I'm too hard on Bruce while the truth is he enjoys my jabs and returns pretty well. He high jacked my very first post and I've liked him every since.

Bruce, having fished with you a few times, I don't think you're being completely honest here by not sharing your rules #2, 3, 4, and 5 for fish photography:
Rule #2: Catch a bigger fish.
Rule #3: Catch an even bigger fish.
Rule #4: Photograph even bigger fish.
Rule #5: Graciously insist that hosts fish was bigger than yours, even though you both know it wasn't.
There, folks, you have the true Condello Secrets for great fish photography.

Damn it!!!! When I logged on and saw that the latest reply to the fat Ca bass was Dr Freak I knew I'd be typing a lot. Actually I thank ya BC(Before Cool) for reposting your original thievery. Now lots of good new folks can appreciate my constant badgering of you. Glad ta be back in the ring with ya. Maybe I can get Pat W and Bill D in my corner, they both seem to have above average senses of humor. Good thing, that may be the only sense they have.

There, folks, you have the true Condello Secrets for great fish photography. TJ's walleye were actually only 12-inchers....but the lighting was REALLY good.
