They were never supposed to be in that part of the country, but they're there now. Glad to see some anglers can enjoy them. Even though I have heard they tend to stunt badly in many Midwest lakes. To me they are some of the best eating fish out there and I love fishing for them in the spring when they make their spring spawning runs out of the Chesapeake Bay and into the tidal rivers to spawn. Must have come in through the Great Lakes?
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

My best guess if they are connected... If not, someone did some bucket stocking.

I also like fishing for white perch when they come charging up the creeks around here on their spawning run in early April. They come up some small creeks and can be great fishing if you are there at the right time. And I agree they are one of the best eating fish.

Tidal white perch are nearly as tasty as a yellow perch. If my back pond floods in the spring we will get a ton of YP but have never had a white perch caught in that pond.
Two ponds, 13 and 15 acres on the Mattaponi River.
