For all you pond fishermen I'd like to know what you use most when you fish. Spin, baitcast or fly rod ? What kind of action or weight, light medium or heavy?

Light-Medium action rod with open face spinning reel and 14 pound test (4 pound dia) braided line. I have tons of other setups, but this is what I use for about 90% of the fishing at the pond.
12 ac pond in NW Missouri. 28' max depth at full pool. Fish Present: LMB, BG, RES, YP, CC, WB, HSB, WE, BCP, WCP, GSH.

6' light action spinning rod with 4 or 6 lb Trilene XL (I wish they made 5lb line). Rear drag adjustment, instant anti-reverse, and no "trigger" (the triggers are just extra parts to break and snag line and don't save any time).

It all depends on the size I'm fishing for and the lure/bait I'm using.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I'm pretty new to this whole fishing thing and was recently introduced to braided line and I don't think I can go back. The stuff is great. I think I can cast about twice and far and the birds nests are much easier to take care of. Loving it.

For pond fishing I use a Shimano Spirex 1000 RG Rear Drag Spinning Reel (I really like the rear drag and fighting drag) and a 6 foot ultra light pole (Cabella's Fish Eagle II) loaded with 4 pound flourocarbon line. This rig will cast even small lures a long way and has a great feel to it. Bruce and Nate turned me on to ultra light rigs at the PB 2 Conference. I love this rig so much I spoon with it when we stay at the ranch.

Spoon with it? Now just what the heck does that mean?

I use a 10 inch red lure with a 4 inch green tail,no rod&reel required.You do however,have to carry a lighter with you.

Spoon with it? Now just what the heck does that mean? You've never heard of spoon, spooning? I meant fishing with a spoon lure as far as you know.
