Hey, heads up for those interested in potential pond property in WNW Illinois (quad cities area; easy I-80 access). We spent considerable time poking around that area for pond-able property. I occassionally check back at the RE auction links on my fav's (D-ski just yelled at me to stop looking at property ) Anyway, this is one of those topos that used to make my heart pick up a couple of beats. It looks like it might be pretty extreme drainage (could be a problem...?) and I haven't really dissected it for capture within the property boundaries, but it looks like a potential monster pondsite. Open the topo link and minimize at the bottom of your screen. Then, open the topo link again on a second window and change the view to the aerial. Now, flip between the aerial and the topo on your screen, moving either map until they both appear in exactly the same area on your screen as an overlay (use the road as a target for perfect overlay). - Here is the auction link - Here is the topo link - Here is the Mapquest link- - - a better aerial from Google - (edit; hmmmm... after further exam, the access drive might be a tough one to negotiate after a rain)
