How fast do they grow (small farm pond; lots of algae, not going to pellet feed them). I'm curious if I can expect eating size in a summer.
How good are they at surviving? If I get some breeders for the aquarium at home and release the fry, will any of them survive or are they just a quick snack for the bass, crappie, and green ears?
Is the aquarium idea even worth looking at, or should I just throw breeding sized fish in the pond? I don't have a good source for "stock fish" other than a pet store (the fish truck doesn't carry them). I'm willing to buy a couple dozen or so for whichever option is best...

Some Tilapia that I stocked last year were 9"-10" in late May. By September they were 17" and pushing 5 pounds.....
