Within a 2 week span, I've found 2 good sized snapping turtles dead in my 3/4 acre pond. Other than they stopped breathing, does anyone have any idea what might have happened to them?

Just turtles? Notice any contusions, abnormalities, etc.? Take any pictures? It's my understanding that snappers are pretty hardy critters so I can't imagine something in the water killing them while fish continued to swim. Do you have any poachers that might have offed them?

A few years ago I watched 2 snappers that were fighting in the pond. For what reason, I have no idea. But, not too long after that one was floating in the pond, dead. I've never been able to figure out why.

I didn't take any pictures, but I looked them over closely. I could see no obvious reasons for their deaths. Lots of minnows swimming, so I could surmise it was nothing in the water?
