Well I can tell you one thing for certain, crayons don't work. I'm assuming this is tongue-in-cheek AP. I would imagine that the "slime coat" would prevent any marking from sticking. Of course I guess you could scrub off the slime coating and then write on the fish but I doubt the fish experts would like that much.

No I'm serious, maybe wipe off one side of the tail and number it, I might try it on one of the PS's in my RAS.
Go ahead and laugh, they laughed at Edison when he invented the automobile.

Bass use their tail for a lot of things including making there beds in spring. It would more than likely get worn off pretty quick! I do like the idea though.

If it did adhere I would think it would last as long as it takes the skin cells to replace it, or it may just flake off. You could also get an autoimmune response to it.
You can always try and report back.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil your probably right, but I would still like to try it. I think I'll wait till spring and get a couple small PS's to try it on, after thinking about it I don't want to experiment on any of my big PS's.
I'll probably end up getting a tagging gun from Greg cause I want to tag trout to check growth, and especially the BRKT that I return to the stream to see how they do over the winters.
