Excellent pics, Nate. Love the dock setup as well. Looks like a great place to have fun.

That seems like great growth on the smallies.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

cheyenne, I started this thread, cause I wanted to see that HSB again and I new you had some more awesome pics! Keep 'em coming! Hopefully others will take this golden opportunity to brag about their fish!
Sunil, The smallies get fed minnows at the dock about 2-3 times per week and about 30% of them eat fish food every day. The fish at the dock are way bigger than their counterparts out roaming around the lake looking for food.

Davatsa, Water basketball is alot of fun (especially when your 6'3 and near 300 lbs).
The entire facility is set up for use by church camps, boys camps, girls camps, team camps, father-son camps, etc. Activities are camping, fishing, water basketball and volleyball, rope swings, snorkeling, feeding fish, lots of canoes and misc boats, baseball field, tug-o-war pit, etc. No cost for the different organizations to use the place (just need to sign up about a year in advance due to high demand).
God blessed us with an amazing place for less than $800 per acre in 2003 and we are sharing it with others! Lots of work, but totally worth it!

That's awesome, Nate! I wish more landowners had your attitude.
You've obviously done very well with the fishery, too. Keep it up!

Cheyenne19, how do you get those growth rates...if the HSB is 26-28" long, then that means it has grown almost 1" in length per month since 2006, including winters, which in Arkansas would last from late Oct-Mar. Do you have a heavy feed schedule during growing season ??
And the LMB has increased almost 75% in lenght in about 16 months.
I thought I would be happy with about 4" growth per year !!!
Nice work and extra nice fish.
Thanks,
Darryl

We feed our HSB into Dec, and start back in Feb. I didn't measure that HSB so I'm not sure about his growth in lenght. These fish were stocked into an existing pond full of GSF and GSD. There was also a healthy BG pop. A few LMB were there before we added some last year. The biologist that helps me with the pond felt like those were fish we added last year. They went in as 12"-14" amd that one was caught as an 18" fish. We electrofished one that was 5.5lb and 18.75". So it's not quite 75% growth. Closer to 50%, and not all of them have done that.

Remember that some of those fish (HSB) are females and some are males. The females will grow faster, bigger and have better relative weights. The one is the picture is almost certainly a female.
