In my area of NC, tobacco is the major crop. This time of year, the farmers are using tractor powered PTO pumps and pipe to pump water to the crops.
The water is drawn from typical NC farm ponds. All the ponds in my area are at least 4" low, many are 6-8" low. This is due to very little rain in the past month.

What effect may this extreme drawdown have? I have read where drawdowns are good for the predator fish since it concentrates the forage.
At the same time, it reduces the overall BOW size, so oxygen goes down and waste concentrations go up. I'm sure temps go up as well.
