Just curious who's seeing ice over on their BOW, and where. We had full ice over on our 2.5 acre pond yesterday. This is a full 30 days sooner than last year. Ice is crystal clear and very thin, with some daytime melting in some spots. I have my shallow water diffuser ready to roll, but haven't started any winter aeration yet.

First ice for us here in N. Illinois this morning also. Low of 11 last night and woke up to a thin layer.

It's been unusually cold for November in Iowa, a solid 10-15 degrees below typical.
I continue to follow the 'mountain project' as documented by wbuffetjr, and am not surprised by his hard water in the Rockies. :-)
Just curious if other pondmeisters track such things as ice on, ice off, etc. We have been averaging early/mid December since I began my records here. In a few centuries, I'll really have some good data...

I am also curious how many folks track it. It's probably not a big deal to a lot of people but very important to others. I will also be interested to see how big of a variation you and I see over the next 100 years DrLuke.

Mine has been iced over for a few days, just a thin layer, then last night and this morning it got 4 or 5 inches of snow dumped on it. It did warm up a little today, and when I went over this evening, it had a slushy crust on it that was trying to freeze up.
