Excellent article about encouraging the right kind of green algae growth while discouraging cyano. I hadn't realized this was possible, or that even with the "right" visibility my BOW could be in trouble. Live and learn! Also good article about how excess BG numbers can cause Fla LMB (and I'm guessing other LMB) to suppress spawning. Apparently this can be an issue in eutrophic ponds, particularly down South. And the redoubtable Bob Lusk gave his account of what went wrong in a south Louisiana pond. Too many birds not only eat the fish, they leave hot waste behind that can cause a big fish kill. I've been fighting cormorants, geese, and a GBH, but did not know of this danger. Fascinating stuff, and Bob impressed me that he's willing to discuss a situation that didn't work out. That happens to all of us, but most are too insecure to admit it and thus learn from it. Well done, Bob. PS The pics of my grandkids holding up LMB made my day!

There is an article on the history of pond mgt that is a must read !! I didn't know the connection between the Dust Bowl and the nationwide push for ponds. Fascinating stuff.
