I have a small 3 acre pond in California. The drought has not been kind. I have owned this pond since 1996. The pond has not gone over the spillway in 5 years. I'm down 12 vertical feet and the main lake is 6 foot deep. Over the last several years the weeds have really taken off. In fact the two main coves have filled in with the weeds. I'm preying for an El Niño year. When I get back to full pool, will this suficate these weeds? Every year I have a 6 to 7 foot drawdown from evaporation. The pond fills from the runoff off 40 acres. The bass and bluegill are in great shape. I've been feeding the bluegill with a feeder for many years. Should I be concerned or am I dealing with a pond life cycle because of the drought. Thank you so much for your thoughts. I would like to post pictures but cannot find a way with this forum technology?

Hey Allen,
IMHO if you get a gully washer that puts 3 to 12 feet of water over the existing non-aquatic vegetation for an extended period of time, it will die. That dead vegetation will also add a lot of organic material to the pond. I would keep it cut and remove the cuttings that I can while waiting for my turn on the rain train! Just my 2 cents

What format are they in? .jpg can easily be attached by clicking Full Reply Screen and then File Manager...just click browse after that to the location where you have them stored on your computer. A lot of other folks upload the pics to sites like photobucket and then just imbed the link in their posts.

Bill, I found the link on how to add the photos. I put them in the gallery under Allens weed problem. I'm on an IPad. Thank you for your help, Allen
