It was 3F this morning. These visitors have been here for a few days and appear to be staging for the next leg of their trip north. There wouldn't be any open water were it not for the circulator working away 24/7.

What kind of ducks are they? I can't tell by the photos.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Nice, open water! It was 16 degrees as I drove home from work today, 9 this morning in Wisconsin. My ponds are frozen solid even over the well which is 30 plus gallons a minute. It has been brutal this march... or is it January? can't really tell. I have 16"s of ice on my ponds yet. Last year I had my floating dock in already. They say it could hit 40 degrees next Wednesday.
PS My guess is Redhead and Bufflehead ducks. I should have them both at my ponds by now, but not this year.
