I am planning to put in enough fill at the edge of my pond in upstate NY to create a level area of about 1,000 SF. My question is, How do I keep the fill from slipping out into the pond if I want a natural shoreline?
The reason I am doing this is that the land behind my house slopes so steeply to the pond that it is dangerous to try to walk to the pond. With a new level area, we will be able to walk along the pond edge.
Any advice/experience would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Jonathan (new Forum member)

What about instead excavating a path around the pond on the steep side and then lining the edge with landscape materials such as RR ties or stone?
