Ever wonder when after catching a fish how long before it tries to eat again. One might think it would be long enough for the stabbing pain through the bottom of their chin to subside. Not not this fish!
My daughter caught an 8" female BG today on a night crawler. Released the fish, then cast the still intact bait back out about 15'. Within 10 secs. BAM! Hit again, SAME fish! Was still bleeding from previous hook removal.
I can think of many times growing up that question would arise, always seeming to result in somebodies best guess. I think that the most common theory was that they take a break for a while. I would! Many of those times while sitting in a fishing boat on our annual family vacation with my dad & uncle in Petoskey, MI.
Now I know the truth.

Fish don't quite feel pain like humans do...
Also depends on how heavily fished the BOW is. Even if a fish wasn't recently hooked, they may be a real challenge to catch. I seriously, doubt there are many BG in even moderately fished public lakes that would come back for a second hook in the mouth that quick.

Fishing close to a guy in our neighborhood lake. He had a bass break off at the boat with a nice crankbait in it's mouth. 3-4 minutes later the guy in the back of the boat caught the same fish, and the crankbait was still in it's mouth.
Then there was a discussion about finders keepers, losers weepers
