Hope someone here knows how to figure what size pipe to run from well to small orchard. Not for sure the size of the submersible pump, but guess it pumps about 15 GPM based on my other wells at 35-50lbs pressure. I will tie into the 1 1/2" line leaving the small pressure tank at the well. The PVC will go 300' before branching to first set of trees and then 240' to the second set of trees. There will be a total of (100) 1 GPH emitters all on one zone. So thats 1.67 GPM when system is running. The emitters will be pressure compensating and punched into 1/2" polypipe. There will be a total of 1500' of the 1/2" poypipe. The ground surface is flat. Will 3/4" or 1' PVC be adequate for the job? thanks for any info...du

Hey neighbor, just a few thoughts after a few years of dealing with a few irrigation systems.
Until I get back to the office I don't remmeber all the formulas for pipe sizing so here goes until I can double check.
What else is tied into the system, How big is the preassure tank?
Use the 1" pipe to the poly pipe. Depending on what else is on the well you might consider 1.25" for the first 300'.

If I racall,it wont make to much difference on the size of the pipe. The emitters run on pressure, not volume.I've got emmiterd on about 600' of 5/8 irrigation tubing and it works just fine.Im also gonna run another 1500' run this summer for fruit trees, but there wont be as many emitters on that run. If I were you,Id wait for more reply's,cause I sure aint no expert, but I think 1" would be more than enough, for what little water you're dispencing.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. One inch pipe should work the volume and pressure are good if you do not have alot of other stuff on the system.
If you want I will be happy to come take a look at the system for you and give other suggestions. Just send me a PM.
