I hope this is acceptable but I need to hire someone and thought if I posted here I would get some better applicants. Looking for entry level fishery tech. I had some awesome help this summer but they are gone and we have more work than I can get to. I have folks on waiting list for work next spring and this is not good business practice. I have not been impressed with applicanats. I'm looking for hard working trustworthy, responsible indiviual with some basic knowledge of pond management. I will send anyone interested a job announcement. Email greg@lakework.com. Office is in north metro Atlanta. thanks

The job announcement states $23-27K, with rapid pay increase with hardwork. You would have to take a big pay cut I know you are bringing in the big bucks.

Man, I would throw away my software tech job in a second to work in the pond business ! I grew up wanting to be a Forest Ranger, but my Mom wouldn't let me...said it didn't pay enough to actually live on. (and I believed her !) The trouble is, I know Greg would FIRE me the first time I saw that giant bass and got out my fishin' pole !

I grew up wanting to be a Forest Ranger Me too. I was a Biology major the first two years of college, decided I 1) wanted to make a little more money (OK a lot) and 2) was afraid I'd end up like Ranger Gord on The Red Green Show. Greg, you need to go national. We'd fill all your slots in no time.

Ah Theo, The Red Green Show. I only know that from Public Television. Pretty damn funny show.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

I always wanted to be a Game Warden. However, my Dad looked at the "of good character" requirements and advised against even trying. He said, on the other hand, he saw no need for Game Wardens to be able to pass Algebra.

Gee Greg only 23-27K with a degree? Glad I quit high school to make 50K designing electronics from the house! But bet I would have more fun working for you. Good luck.

that is the good and the bad for fish work for a livin'. Good for I guess now that I'm hiring, bad in fact that it is very competetive field and I know master students that start under 30K and proud to do so. I just saw post for fish technician in ND that required BS in fisheries starting pay $9.25/hr.

Lets see, getting paid to follow Greg around. I've followed his posts about his schedule.
Wandering around 100 acre lakes on ante bellum plantations. Dove hunting, pheasant hunting, deer hunting. You actually pay people to follow you around? Can I be your Gunbearer?

Greg sure is right -- no one gets into fisheries to get rich. Just got two job announcements today for fishery biologists with M.S. degrees. One in SD, and one in MN. Surprisingly, starting salaries were nearly identical. Right at 32K. That's after 6 years of school, of course.

Dave W. thanks for having my back. I tell some buddies about the job to mention to folks and they think I'm crazy and that I should pay more. It is all about supply and demand. Also my rate of pay increase is much faster than state/fed agency if they work hard. Dave D., now don't go telling people about all that I want them to think I work hard all the time. Besides here it is almost 9:00 and still have about an hour left on a report.
