Gator asked me to post a picture of my "pier gates" so, I'm obliging. As an added bonus the second picture show my infamous bird house camers and the third picture shows my entrance gate with a fake camera mounted on the post. It would be interesting to see other security measures that you all have taken.

The "pier gate" is simple wood construction, locked, and backed up by steel traps which you can see upon close inspection.

The infamous bird house camera...please, I'm not a carpenter...use your imagination and it sort of looks like a bird house.

The last picture is of the entrance gate and fake camera

Congrats with the awesome looking place, but that's a butt ugly bird house.

Joe, its so ugly no bird has dared use it, but that was actually the idea...inside is a 12 volt battery and digital camera aimed at my pier.

I have had no apparent trespasser problems since I installed these measures...whereas before I was plundered and pillored. Maybe the butt ugly construction helped scare them away..whatever they are gone for now.

Meadow, you have a nice algae bloom for no fertilization. Did you put out those dead trees for cormorant season?

My cows, which graze in the watershed area, provide all the fertilization needed. Water Turkey season never closes, the bird just takes a summer vacation in the North country where it is loved by all. \:\)

ML,

That birdhouse hotel with the hidden camera is a hoot. I'd ask you to post a pattern but I'm sure there is a patent on the design. \:D

Nice looking pond, thanks for posting.

ML,

I think the steel-jawed trap mounted on the gate give the impression of a "crazed pond owner". That is priceless! \:\)

BTW, are those Water Turkeys circling in picture #3? :p

Thanks for the pictures!

Gator,

You are jerking my chain right? I didn't see any birds in that picture...and crazed, rabid pond owner isn't far from the truth portrayed by the traps. \:\)

Seriously, I'd never want to hurt anyone or their dogs, but also want to protect what is mine. This really seems to be working, unlike other attempts I've made at stopping poaching.

Did you see the BG picture? That's a picture of coming attractions for you or even better I hope.

I seriously see 2 birds in the fake camera picture. Look above and to the right of the canmera...looks like circling WT's to me! :p

I think your securty set-up has just enough over-the-top-ness to do the trick. Good job! Cant wait until I have something to protect!

Dang, Gator, you are right! Did someone doctor those pictures...I'm thinking someone by the name of Theo maybe?

Dang, that couldn't be water turkeys this time of year, but there is definitely something there.

ML, they look more like buzzards to me. Maybe waiting on trespassers. Or, hows your health?

Gator,

Notice that area of disturbed ground in the picture you so carefully examined?
