Here's an unusual request for the board:
I'm planning the production of a DVD/CD that focuses on the use and efficacy of two aquatic microbial agents. These products, respectively, are designed to reduce excessive nutrient-loading in the water-column and reduce bottom buildup of organic debris ("sludge").
I know, I know! ---- there's a jillion products on the market that make these claims. Odds are, I've tested most of them. In this case, I've worked with these two microbial blends for over six years - without any results that rated less than "outstanding".
So, I'm stepping out on a limb (and I thought it would never happen). I want to conduct a wide-scale trial/demonstration in several geographical regions to document these products' effectiveness. What better way to add credibility to the trials than to have the test sites chosen from this board!
Here's the deal: I'm strictly looking for small ponds (preferably 1/2-acre or less) that exhibit traits of excessive nutrient and/or organic loading (pea soup algae, excessive filamentous algae and/or heavy buildup of "sludge"/"muck" on the pond's bottom, etc.). Also, I would prefer that the pond's primary function be "aesthetics", rather than fishing. I would also like the candidate-ponds to span a broad geographic area. Ponds in which other biological treatments have been used - preferably unsuccessfully - are welcome for consideration. The primary "feedback" requirements from participants would be 1) relevant pond history/experiences, 2) photos - before/during/after, 2) clarity measurements - b/d/a, 3) bottom-sludge measurements - b/d/a, and 4) willingness to appear in video and/or photos that document and report the trial results.
The treatment regimens would not be initiated until sometime next Spring. But, I want to have time to get my ducks lined up for this effort - and select the most suitable sites for this project. So, if you - or someone you know - has an appropriate pond, and any interest in participating (@ no $ charge), please email me via the address in my profile for more information.
