We bought our property last fall. There's a tiny pond on it. Maybe 1/16 acre. It's very shallow & doesn't hold water well in the late summer. I eventually would like to stick some money, time & effort into making it deeper, cleaning it up & such, but I have a host of other honey do projects to tackle first. There are a ton of frogs & it's choked with algae.
I took a walk back to the pond today for the first time in a few weeks to find that there's a dead deer in it. The area I live in has a lot of bear & coyotes so I don't just want to drag it out & let it lay in the nearby field. I don't own a bobcat or backhoe to bury it.
Would it hurt to just leave it in the pond where the varmits can't get to it?
Thanks

In that small of pond it sure is going to foul the water. I would want it out but that is just me.

As far as the coyotes taking care of it, what is the problem with that?

At my place if I leave a dead deer or other large animal out the bears and coyote will have it stripped to the bones in a day or two.

And scatter the bones for the most part in a week.
