HEY EVERYBODY, JUST LOOKING FOR SOME HELP ON SOMETHING - CONNECTICUT SMALL POND, NOT MANY PEOPLE FISH THERE OFTEN, POND ABOUT 100-125 YARDS LONG, 40-60 YARDS WIDE, ALWAYS GETS SUNLIGHT DURING THE DAY, VERY VERY MURKY WATER.

MY PROBLEM? EVERY TIME FISHING THERE, USING EVERYTHING FROM LIVE BAIT; SHINERS, WORMS, CHUM TO LURES; CRANK BAIT, RIBSTERS, SPINNERS, JIGS. NOTHING EVERRRRRRR BITES. I KNOW THERE ARE BIG, BIGGG FISH IN THIS POND BECAUSE I ALWAYS SEE THEM JUMPING, ALOT OF THEM ALWAYSSS JUMPING, SURFACING THE TOP FOR MINUTES AT A TIME SWIMMING SURFACE LEVEL.

WE KNOW THERE ARE CARP, BASS, SUNFISH, BLUEGILLS AND CATFISH IN THIS POND. MANY, MANY TIMES I SEE CLOUDS OF MUD/DIRT BEING STIRRED UP FROM THESE CARP(maybe catfish?) BUT CONTINUOUSLY NEVER RECEIVING ANY BITES. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CATCH ONE OF THESE PRESTIGIOUS TEASERS?!

(Also, I will mention I have tried using home-made carp bait) PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP, I WANT TO CATCH SOME OF THESE BAD BOYS!

Welcome to the forum. Try some kernal corn on a long shank hook fished on the bottom. If it's carp they could be gearing up for spawn, and really hard to get to bite right now.

Hmm, maybe the problem is too much yelling (cap locks=yelling) smile

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

Most of us know more about raising and killing fish than we do about catching them.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Sounds like carp. Try some diff baits. Soak a fat old nightcrawler for a while and see what happens.

May try to float the about anywhere form 4-12 inches and see what happens if they surface much. I would try worms and we always had luck with dough balls made from Wheaties and strawberry pop.

If they are common carp, try chumming the area with a small amount(a handful) of kernel corn for 2 or 3 days. Then on the 3rd or 4th day, bait a small size 8 bait holder hook with 3-4 kernels and chum the area a bit more. Hang on!
